FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The North Carolina State University Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management and the Greater Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau will host half-day training workshops focused on tourism marketing Thursday, February 18, and Friday, February 19, at NC State.

The sessions are part of a new statewide series of workshops designed to provide expert assistance to North Carolina's travel and tourism industry.  Representatives from lodging facilities and tourism attractions can learn about effective methods for using direct marketing to build repeat business at the following workshops:

  • "Tourism Direct Marketing - Results with MORE Certainty," 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Thursday, February 18, in Biltmore Hall on NC State's campus.  The program will focus on the definition of direct marketing, marketing planning cycles, database marketing, creative elements and other topics.  The cost is $99.
  • "Developing Effective Offers for Tourism Direct Marketing," 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Friday, February 19, in Biltmore Hall on NC State's campus.  The program will focus on the importance of offers, discovering effective offers, the urgency factor associated with offers, response incentives, and other topics.  The cost is $99.

Dr. Larry Gustke, associate professor of parks, recreation and tourism management at NC State, launched the workshop series in January with programs in Raleigh and the Triad.  The workshops will be co-taught by Gustke.  George Wehmann, president of Raleigh-based Direct Marketing Resources Group Inc., will be the second presenter.

For registration and information about the workshops, contact Gustke at 919/515-3688.
